関係代名詞の使い所。

「特定・絞り込み」をすることができるのが、関係代名詞のいいところ。
ズバッと固有名詞を言い切れないものって、この世にたくさんある。
それを特定させて、アイデアを伝えることができる会話の必需品。

関係代名詞の使い所を理解して、
勉強するモチベをあげよう。

1. 複数の中から「特定」して伝える（Do you see / Look at）👆

目の前にいくつか選択肢がある中で、「どの個体か」を相手に教えるパターンです。

• Do you see the woman that…（〜しているあの女性が見える？）
  • …that is wearing a red hat.（赤い帽子を被っている）
  • …that is talking to the manager.（マネージャーと話している）
• Look at the bag that…（〜なあのバッグを見て。）
  • …that is on the top shelf.（一番上の棚にある）
  • …that has a gold handle.（金の持ち手がついている）
• Check out the dog that…（〜なあの犬をチェックして。）
  • …that is jumping near the tree.（木の下で跳ねている）

2. 自分の「好み」を具体的に指定する（I want / I like）

世の中にたくさんある中で、自分のストライクゾーンを伝えるパターンです。

• I want a cat that…（〜な猫が欲しい。）
  • …that doesn’t bark at night.（夜に鳴かない）
  • …that sleeps on my lap.（膝の上で寝てくれる）
• I like movies that…（〜な映画が好き。）
  • …that have a happy ending.（ハッピーエンドの）
  • …that are based on true stories.（実話に基づいた）
• I don’t like food that…（〜な食べ物は嫌いだ。）
  • …that contains too much salt.（塩分が多すぎる）

3. 「正体」を明らかにする（This is / That is）

正体不明なものについて、「これは〜なアレだよ」と説明するパターンです。

  • …that I found under the chair.（椅子の下で見つけた）
• That is the restaurant that…（あれが〜なレストランだよ。）
  • …that serves the best pizza in town.（街で一番のピザを出す）
